The most amazing camp at mt ruapehu!

Awesome Camp At Mt Ruapehu

Hi everybody, welcome back to my blog and during week 4 we have been on camp. I was really excited by the time we got there. Enjoy the story of camp!

Feelings about camp and packing things.
While I was trying to find my gear, I didn't have all of it yet. It was really hard to find somethings. Some of the ski jackets we brought from trade me did not fit me or my brother. Anyways they were too small for me when we wasted a lot of money. I had ski pants, but not a ski jacket or waterproof gloves. I was not very happy when I had to pack all my things and trying to fit all my clothes inside the big Kathmandu bag. While I was packing I thought I would not be able to look after myself or my brother. I felt really scared going by myself and making sure that I don't get into trouble.

Traveling to different places.
While we were in the bus we traveled to a park called Jim Barker Park. It was made from a famous guy called Jim Barker. It was really cool and there was two flying foxes that were really fun. There was a boat and a water stream flowing by. After we went to the park we also went to Hamilton Gardens and it was amazing. It was colourful and it was full of decorations even though it smelt a lot. We did a treasure hunt around the gardens to see who would find all 24 gardens first. We took photos of our teams and a big one all together at a water fountain. After that we were heading towards the Ed Hillary Walkway and did a treasure hunt again. We went in buddies and started looking at the boards where we collected information. There were also sounds,  you needed to press a button on the left side. Then we had lunch and headed of to Taumaranui School to have a little play on the playground. Me and my friends were playing tag and then we played on the playground trying to climb up the rocks. About half in hour later we went into the bus and was of to The Crossing Backpackers, where we were going to sleep at.

Arriving at The Crossing Backpackers!
By the time we got there I thought that the bedrooms were going to be really big, but they weren't  and I thought that we were also going to suffocate inside the room.
There was a tiny window and the bathrooms only had two lights on for the girls to go in. At night time we had a lot of fun and we played spotlight with our torches too. Before we went outside we had to check if our layers were thick enough to go outside because it was really cold even though we were far away from the mountain. I was also amazed about the movie room and how they made it inside a wardrobe. They put in three couches, some pillows and beanbags, and a big TV for everyone to watch movies. The food was amazing that on the last day which was Thursday we had the best nachos in the world. They were so tasty I had to have seconds after I finished my plate. For dessert we had ice cream and donuts and a flake in the middle. On top of all of that we had chocolate sauce and it was delicious.

Mountain time!
The next day we went up on the mountain it was freezing like you were turned into an ice block.
I was really cold, but I had fun playing with snow and making snowballs. I was so happy when I went to go and do sledding down the snow. There was different types of lengths. There was a long one, a short one, and a medium one which I went down the fastest. We also went skiing and snowboarding down to the bottom of the hill, where a queue of people was waiting to go on the chairlifts. On the mountain the weather was crazy and when snow was falling down it hits your face like prickles from plants. We had a lot of people complaining about the boots we put on because they were way too heavy. I was not happy at first, but then when I started skiing I was happy again. I was so relieved when we left the mountain because my feet were sore and I was really hungry.

Free time with friends!
Taupo pools was the best and the thing I loved about it was that it was really warm. There was a Tarzan swing were you swing off the rope and there was also floaties to lie on. There was a small area around the corner were you could just relax and there was a bombing zone which almost all the boys went to. There was a BBQ area and the teachers and parent helpers were cooking hot dogs. The best thing about the pools is that I got to play games in the pools with my friends and that we got to eat a brownie or a cookie and 2 hot dogs.
How I felt after camp was really sad because I wanted to stay there just a little bit longer and then go home. I also felt happy because I got to see my family again and got to have pizza. That is my story of camp in week 4 and make sure you have a great time at camp if your going soon. Here is a link of my reflection slideshow of how I felt. I also have another slideshow about the details about Mt Ruapehu. press the link and it will take you to my slideshow. Don't forget to look at the photos! Bye!
